About PhilDaddy
I became a dad in 2007 at 36 years old. My wife and I were married for four years before we had our baby girl. My wife has an excellent job with good pay, 401k (for what that’s worth) and full family health benefits. I, on the other hand, have spent the majority of my life pursuing a career in music, and because of this I have never had a track record of “solid” jobs or at least ones that pay a fraction as well as my wife. Don’t get me wrong, I have spent a lifetime plugging away at some of the strangest and most random jobs I could imagine. The sort of work that was never listed on the aptitude test we all took as children. My score apparently said "you should seek out a meaningful career as a pet transporter." And that is precisely what I do to earn a few bucks for mom and baby. I act as a freelance agent for various out-of-state shipping companies and handle their workload in the tri-state area. Dogs, cats, monkeys, lizards...if they need to travel, I'm your guy. I am my own boss and the pay is terrific; the downside is the work is very sporadic and in the winter I’ll be lucky to have two transports a month (guess pets bunker down in the colder months). However, the moral of the story is this, I get to stay home with my daughter and keep house for my family. And in moments of clarity (usually after my daughter goes to bed), I feel like the luckiest man in the world.
